I am sensing Easter Weekend will be HUGE!  Why?  The enemy is busy, the weather won’t cooperate, and it appears the distractions just won’t go away!  However, I’m reminding myself to remain steadfast…unmovable…while ALWAYS abiding in the Word!  In short, this too shall pass.  I’m excited about my new series, “Simple AS A.B.C.”  Why?  You will discover a different side of Jesus that many rarely talk about.

Jesus arrived on the stage of world events andannounced that God’s intent was to connect with, not confuse, humankind.  To those who were considered most distant from God, Jesus offered this simple invitation: “Follow me.” People who accepted his offer found themselves captivated by an extraordinary faith leading them to adopt a lifestyle that turned the world upside down.  Here’s an overview of the series.  I challenge you to reach out and invite a friend to attend with you.

Easter Weekend Series: “Simple As A.B.C.”

“Just Follow”
(Matthew 9:9-13)

There is a common misconception that the church is a gathering place for saintly, perfect people. Moreover, some think that being a Christian means observing a set of rules orcommandments. The reality is that the Christian life is about a relationship with Jesus Christ.  At the heart of that relationship is an invitation that Jesus extends to people from all experiences of life: “Follow me.”

“Just Believe”
(Romans 3:21-26)

Jesus’ initial invitation to his disciples was asimple one: Follow me.  He invited them towatch and listen to his interactions with his heavenly Father and with others. In time, however, those who followed Jesus began to discover God’s character through Jesus Christ. In that discovery, they found themselves drawn to take a second simple step: Believe.

“Just Obey”
(Matt. 7:24-28; Prov. 3:5-6)

The church often mistakes Christian obedience as the first step in the Christian life. As a result, for many people the Christian faith becomes a rules-based religion. Instead, the Scriptures reveal that Jesus’ initial invitation isto follow him.  He invites us to follow him untilwe begin believing that he is indeed who hesays he is. This belief that God loves us and has the best in store for us becomes the reason we obey.

“Now Apply It!”
(James 1:22-26)

What good is following, believing, and obeying if you aren’t doing?  In other words, God’s standards for our lives aren’t for judging others, but for applying to our own lives. What’s the point: Application (Doing) makes all the difference!

Did I tell you how excited I am to preach JESUS?  I challenge you to invite every person who’s ever believed the lie: “God can’t accept someone like me” to experience this life-changing series.
